Mock Interview Practice

Practise Before the Real Interview.

Practice Before the Interview is a one-to-one mock interview service for job seekers who want to practise out loud, receive neutral human feedback, and improve before the real conversation.

In a competitive hiring market, every interview matters. Practise before the real conversation with a neutral person who listens carefully, helps you calm your nerves, and gives you clear feedback on what to improve.

My approach

Neutral, human-led, and practical. I help you practise your answers, spot what is not landing, and communicate your value more clearly before the real interview.

Neutral feedback

A neutral person spots blind spots more honestly than friends or tools that reward polished wording. You get honest observations, not just reassurance.

Human-led practice

Real interviews are dynamic. A human listener responds to tone, pauses, and confidence in ways no automated tool can replicate.

Practical next steps

You leave with a clear action list — what to keep, what to sharpen, and what to change — not a score or a generic report.

Experience behind the feedback

I bring 20 years of corporate experience across consumer and business insights, client advisory, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional business work. I have worked with senior clients, internal teams, and business stakeholders to understand problems, structure evidence, and communicate clearly. My feedback focuses on clarity, relevance, structure, confidence, and business impact — not generic interview tips.

STAR or SAR — which one should you use?

Most candidates have heard of STAR. But in a real interview, a rigid four-part structure can make your answers feel rehearsed or run too long. SAR strips it back — same discipline, sharper delivery.

STAR SAR
Structure Situation → Task → Action → Result Situation → Action → Result
Length Longer, more context Leaner, punchier
Best for HR screens, structured interviews Experienced candidates, time-pressured rounds
Risk Can feel over-explained Needs a strong, specific action

In practice sessions, we work on whichever structure serves your specific role and round — and make sure it sounds natural, not recited.

Before your real interview — a simple checklist

Research the company — recent news, strategy, and culture

Understand the role — what problem are they hiring to solve?

Prepare 3–5 stories using SAR or STAR structure

Know your "tell me about yourself" in under 90 seconds

Practise out loud — not just in your head

Prepare 2–3 thoughtful questions to ask the interviewer

Know your key strengths and be ready to back them with examples

Anticipate the tough questions — gaps, failures, transitions

A practice session helps you work through this list with a real listener, not alone in front of a mirror.

Who you'll be practising with

👤

I have spent 20 years working in corporate environments across consumer insights, business strategy, client advisory, and stakeholder communication. I have worked alongside senior leaders, hiring managers, and cross-functional teams — which means I understand what decision-makers are actually listening for when they interview candidates.

I am not a recruiter. I do not teach scripts. What I bring is a clear-eyed perspective on how your answers land — on clarity, confidence, structure, and whether your value actually comes through in the conversation.

Based in Toronto. Sessions available virtually and in person across Toronto, Mississauga, and Oakville.
